iDEM brings accessible language innovation to LREC 2026

14/05/2026 María Pérez

We are proud to share that iDEM project had two invited presentations at international conference LREC 2026, held at the Palau de Congressos de Palma in Mallorca, Spain, from 11–16 May 2026. Organized by the ELRA Language Resources Association, the conference brought together researchers and professionals from the fields of natural language processing, computational linguistics, speech technologies and multimodality. Throughout the event, participants exchanged ideas, research and experiences through presentations, poster sessions and networking activities focused on innovation, evaluation and the development of language resources.

Serge Sharoff joined our  READIxTSAR workshop to discuss text complexity assessment, while Horacio Saggion delivered an invited talk at the Determit! workshop focusing on the overall iDEM project and on language resources for text simplification.

The iDEM Corpus, presented at the LREC 2026 conference, is a specialized multilingual dataset designed to support text simplification and improve accessibility in democratic participatory processes (Bott et al., 2026). Developed under the «Innovative and Inclusive Democratic Spaces for Deliberation and Participation» iDEM Project EU, the corpus is a collaborative effort between Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Capito, the University of Leeds, and Plena Inclusión Madrid. Stefan Bott, Horacio Saggion, Nouran Khallaf, Almudena Rascón Alcaina, Verena Riegler 👇 with a huge audience! 👏
