The European project iDEM took part in the Smart Tools for Strong Lives Conference on April 24 in Malta, invited by Inspire Foundation. Representing the consortium, Horacio Saggion shared insights on how iDEM – Innovative and Inclusive Democratic Spaces for Deliberation and Participation – is working on a language simplification tool designed to make information more accessible and easier to understand, helping foster more inclusive participation.
As AI continues to transform every aspect of our lives, the conference created a valuable space to reflect on how these advances can support equal opportunities for persons with disabilities. Bringing together users, professionals, researchers and developers, the event explored how assistive tools can foster greater independence, while also addressing the challenges and risks that come with their development and use.
