Carlo Eugeni, Programme Manager of the Master’s in Audiovisual Translation and Localisation at Leeds University and iDEM partner, presented our project in the context of legal accessibility.
In the framework of the 18th UN Conference of the States Parties (COSP18) Carlo presented iDEM at an UNDESA event titled “Legal Access for Everyone: Plain Language, Easy Read & AI”. UNDESA is the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs.
Carlo spoke of the need of a Universal Court Report to make the legal process accessible to a largest number of people. The Universal Court Report is designed to make courtroom proceedings more accessible, including by providing an Easy Language version of everything spoken during the session.
In this context he illustrated the app that is being developed within iDEM: its current state, its use in use cases, and the potential contribution to the implementation of the Universal Court Report.
